WELCOME to the JOY OF CREATION (online studio)! My name is Sandra. I am an Upholsterer and Textile Artist. I was born in Peru in 1972 and immigrated to the United States with my family in 1978. I was naturalized as a US Citizen in the 1990s and graduated from Penn State University with a BA in Integrative Arts (Architecture Design) and with minors in Architectural History and Sociology in 1995.
As a Textile Artist I enjoy teaching others within the art process of discovering, exploring, and enjoying all things ALCHEMY. Alchemy means transformation. As you have seen through our social feed and website I have had the honor to recreate, restore and reupholster beautiful one-of-a-kind family treasures for over 10 years. This blessing of bringing people JOY through the process of CREATION is one that I NOW am offering to others to join me in through my online studio. I have titled the online sudio "JOY OF CREATION" because it serves as an extension of my love for taking the old, the remanants, the forgotten and the new to create items that become family treasures to share with others and include in my personal creative storytellilng process.
If you have been looking to learn more about textile art and the process of creating unique authentic artwork that speaks of your personal story of JOY then join me in my online studio (a private group through FB) that I will be launching in August.
I will only be registering 10 people to join me in this one year long venture (August 2026 to August 2027) so I can best be available to answer student questions and provide my best content and goodies to share with you. So if you're interested in joining me in the studio email me at alchemymanager@yahoo.com
NOTE: you may exit this private FB group at any time once you have joined. But once the group has 10 active members the group will be closed to new members until August 2027.

Here are some of the FABRICS & THREADS I will teach about in our monthly group, and much, much more.
12 WT SPAGETTI
(solid colours)
Looking for a bold and dramatic thread that wants to show off? Spagetti™ is a 12wt Egyptian cotton thread that has been double-gassed and is free of wax or coatings that can build up in your sewing machine. Available in a total of 60 saturated solid colours, 19 of the available colours have been chosen by Susan K Cleveland, author, teacher, and quilter. This low lint thread is ideal for showing off your hand quilting and decorative stitches that will make your next project pop.
12 WT FRUITTI
(variegated colours)
Fruitti™ is a 12wt Egyptian cotton thread with a bold and dramatic look that has been double-gassed to create a gorgeously soft and clean cotton thread. Free of waxes and coatings that can damage your sewing machine, this low lint thread is ideal for showing off your stitching and designs, and adding a little more colour to your projects.
Fruitti™ is available in 41 fun and playful variegated colours and used by Nichole Vogelsinger - author, teacher and mixed media hand embroidery.
8 WT ELEGANZA
